Manufacturing Engineer - Precision Machining

About the role

GVT is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join its team in the precision engineering sector. The engineer develops, implements and improves manufacturing processes to deliver the highest standards of quality and efficiency, with a strong understanding of engineering principles, advanced manufacturing techniques and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop manufacturing processes for new products and optimise existing ones, and carry out feasibility studies and cost analyses for manufacturing projects
• Create process documentation such as work instructions, process flow diagrams and standard operating procedures, and transfer process knowledge to production teams
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase productivity, analyse production data and lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions
• Ensure processes comply with industry standards and regulations, work with the quality team on quality control plans and take part in internal and external audits
• Support production teams technically, train and mentor staff, and work with equipment vendors and suppliers on new technologies and equipment

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in precision machining engineering
• Able to work under pressure with minimum supervision

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and equipment used in precision machining
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, ideally SolidWorks and MasterCam
• Knowledge of technical drawings and BOMs
• Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives and implement lean manufacturing
• Good problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills
