Manufacturing Technician 1

About the role

Illumina is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 1 to support production of genomic technologies. The role involves operating and maintaining equipment, assembling and packaging products, and ensuring compliance with cGMP, quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of manufacturing tasks to produce high‑quality products following cGMP, quality, safety and work‑instruction requirements.
• Set up equipment, conduct functional testing, and operate machinery for production runs.
• Carry out quality inspections, checks and verifications, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Enter transactions in MES and ERP systems and process work orders to move products to inventory.
• Perform kitting, packaging, and maintain 6S housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Identify common issues, escalate concerns, and support simple troubleshooting under supervision.
• Participate in autonomous maintenance (TPM) activities and 6S continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist in incident investigations, periodic inventory checks and cycle counts.
• Handle tools safely, recognize workplace hazards, and ensure personal certification and development plans are up to date.

• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and operate under direct supervision.
• Commitment to cGMP, quality, safety and continuous‑improvement standards.
• Willingness to learn equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and autonomous management activities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team to meet production schedules.

Required skills

• Experience with MES and ERP systems.
• Equipment setup and functional testing.
• Quality inspection and verification procedures.
• Knowledge of cGMP compliance.
• Familiarity with 6S housekeeping and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices.
