Marine Engineer – Ship Repair & Safety

About the role

The Marine Engineer will oversee ship repair activities, ensuring all work complies with safety, regulatory and contractual standards. You will coordinate repair schedules, manage resources, and act as the primary liaison between the shipyard, contractors and the client.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and monitor safety compliance across all repair operations.
• Plan, prioritize and execute repair tasks based on the defect list provided by the ship owner.
• Coordinate repair activities with supervisors, yardmen, contractors and relevant trades.
• Attend vessel safety coordination and department production meetings to track progress and address critical paths.
• Manage variation orders, cost control, and Just‑In‑Time material ordering.
• Document completed work, verify with the client and ensure HSEQ plans are followed.
• Conduct risk assessments, prepare safe work procedures and support ISO audit activities.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, NTC 3 certification or equivalent.
• Preferably 2 years of experience in marine repair or a related field.
• Strong planning, supervisory and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good interpersonal and conflict‑management skills.
• Ability to communicate in additional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Tamil, Malay) is an advantage.
