Material Management Associate (Purchasing) – Engineering

About the role

Singapore Airlines is looking for a Material Management Associate (Purchasing) to join the Material Management Department of its Engineering Division. The successful candidate will handle purchasing duties, including sourcing, ordering and managing spare parts and materials.

Key responsibilities

• Process outstanding purchase requisitions in SAP and place orders to ensure spares availability through timely routine purchasing.
• Source the most competitive pricing and availability, and challenge vendors on price escalation beyond Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSAA), Supplier Support Conditions (SSC) or Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE) contracts.
• Evaluate chemicals, bulk materials, change kits and spares inventory levels, consumption and reorder lead times to optimise stock.
• Track delivery progress against lead times, liaise with vendors on delivery schedules and after-sales support, and investigate and resolve discrepancy reports.
• Review outstanding price variances to prevent delays in invoice payment and monitor them regularly.
• Ensure spares are available to prevent task card withdrawals, review spares periodically for task card requirements, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Required profile

• Diploma, preferably in Engineering.
• Knowledge of Material Management operations, administration and procedures preferred.
• Able to engage directly with vendors and line engineers on the shop floor.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; motivated, team player who can work independently, under pressure and on shifts.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SAP, such as SQ01, MB51 and MMBE.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (pivot tables for trend and analysis) and PowerPoint.
• Support in commercial negotiation for fixed-price agreements.
