Materials Engineer

About the role

As a member of Agilent’s Materials Engineering team, you will manage a portfolio of assigned commodities and ensure that the company’s factories receive high‑quality raw materials on time, at the right cost, and in compliance with specifications. You will work closely with internal functions and global suppliers to drive quality, reliability, and cost‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality performance and material disruption handling.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to reduce field defects and DPPM.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects to improve product reliability and reduce non‑conformance material.
• Initiate annual material cost‑saving and VAVE programs.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for new materials, capacity expansion, and BOM setup for NPI projects.
• Ensure compliance with global regulatory standards and perform risk assessments on incoming materials.
• Coordinate engineering change management, supply‑chain risk mitigation (shortages, EOL, tariffs), and asset management at supplier sites.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in materials engineering or related roles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, trend charts, statistical analysis).
• Materials engineering knowledge and supplier quality management.
