Materials Engineer

About the role

As a member of Agilent’s Materials Engineering team, you will manage a portfolio of assigned commodities and work closely with internal functions and global suppliers. The role ensures that the factory receives high‑quality raw materials on time, at a reasonable cost, while supporting continuous improvement and new technology adoption.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality performance and material disruption issues.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to reduce field defects, DPPM and improve product reliability.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, analyze defect types and mitigate supply‑risk challenges such as shortages, EOL and tariffs.
• Drive annual material cost‑saving programs (VAVE) and act as a subject‑matter expert for new product introductions.
• Identify and qualify alternative materials, support capacity expansion at suppliers, and lead BOM setup for new parts.
• Work with compliance engineering to meet global regulatory standards and perform risk assessments on incoming materials.
• Coordinate engineering change management, supplier specifications, and asset management activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in materials engineering or related engineering roles.
• Strong collaboration skills across R&D, manufacturing and production.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and maintain attention to detail.
• Systematic problem‑solver with a results‑driven mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
