Mechanical Engineer – Design & Project Management

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and delivery of safe, functional and sustainable mechanical systems across projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with authority codes, and drive cost‑effective solutions from concept to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Organise internal design reviews with the Head of Department and Design Managers.
• Implement design checklists, track progress and coordinate across CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Piping and Process disciplines.
• Prepare project cost estimates and budgets during programming and conceptual design phases.
• Review mechanical tender documents to guarantee equipment and material specifications meet client requirements.
• Support the commercial department during procurement and aim to minimise variation or change orders.
• Represent the Mechanical Team in monthly client meetings and obtain design approvals.
• Capture design changes, raise Change Management Field Instructions and calculate additional man‑hours.
• Perform OPEX & CAPEX calculations for major utility equipment.
• Implement Greenmark standards and renewable‑energy innovations.
• Mentor senior engineers, manage team workload, set goals and conduct performance reviews.
• Promote safe working practices and uphold professional workplace standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical system design and project coordination.
• Strong understanding of authority code compliance and waiver processes.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and internal leadership.
• Experience mentoring engineers and managing multidisciplinary teams.
