Research Fellow (Coupled Multiphysics Modelling)

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University is a leading institution for sustainable built environment research. It focuses on exploring and utilizing underground space in Singapore in a sustainable manner. The Research Fellow will contribute to advanced experimental and modelling work on coupled multiphysics processes in porous materials.

Key responsibilities

• Develop advanced experimental apparatus to investigate coupled multiphysics processes in porous materials such as clay.
• Develop constitutive models and numerical tools to simulate the thermo‑hydro‑mechanical behavior of Singapore soils and assess the thermomechanical performance of geostructures.
• Publish high‑quality research findings in leading peer‑reviewed journals.
• Assist in securing external funding by preparing grant applications and research proposals.

Required profile

• PhD in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in triaxial testing and constitutive modelling.
• Excellent programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or comparable languages.
• Strong record of publications in reputable peer‑reviewed journals or conferences.
• Proficiency in written and spoken communication.
• Previous experience in proposal writing is a plus.
