Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and development of safe, functional and sustainable mechanical systems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives throughout the design phase.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and lead internal design reviews with support from the Head of Department and Design Managers.
• Implement design checklists, track progress and coordinate with CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Piping and Process disciplines.
• Prepare cost estimates and budgets during programming and conceptual design phases.
• Review mechanical tender documentation to ensure equipment and material specifications meet client requirements.
• Collaborate with the commercial department during procurement and strive to minimise variation orders.
• Represent the mechanical team in client meetings, obtain design approvals and manage change instructions.
• Calculate OPEX & CAPEX for major utility equipment and incorporate Greenmark and renewable energy innovations.
• Mentor senior engineers, manage team workload, set goals and conduct performance reviews.
• Promote safety, professional workplace culture and protect company interests.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical system design and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Strong understanding of authority codes and compliance requirements.
• Ability to produce accurate cost estimates and manage project budgets.
• Experience reviewing tender documents and supporting procurement activities.
• Leadership skills to mentor engineers and manage a technical team.
