Mechanical Engineer – Lead MEP Discipline

About the role

Arup is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design discipline within its MEP team. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality design calculations, drawings and specifications across a variety of projects while supporting the professional development of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Concept and detailed mechanical design for a range of projects, acting as the lead discipline engineer.
• Facilitate and coordinate design activities, ensuring technical standards, reference material and software tools are current and correctly applied.
• Conduct technical reviews of MEP projects at key stages to verify approach and deliverables.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, government agencies, sub‑consultants and contractors.
• Supervise proposal preparation, submissions and assist in contract negotiations within the MEP framework.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent recognised qualification).
• 4–6 years of detailed mechanical design experience in an engineering consultancy.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution or significant progress towards eligibility.
• Strong knowledge of local and international legislation, regulations, codes of practice and guidelines.
• Excellent communication and report‑writing skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
