Mechanical Engineer – Project Engineer (Mid‑Level)

About the role

The Project Engineer will lead the implementation and timely completion of specific tasks assigned by the Project Manager, ensuring compliance with both contractual obligations and internal SBM requirements. This mid‑level position involves managing interfaces, deliveries, areas, and change activities across complex projects.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, control and report on assigned tasks to meet project timelines and budgets.
• Facilitate effective communication among internal project members to ensure information flow.
• Delegate decisions within the team while maintaining appropriate oversight.
• Support the Project Management Team in staying focused on project objectives.
• Deliver assigned scope on time, on budget and to required quality standards.
• Develop and monitor action plans, own problem resolution and close issues promptly.
• Oversee tactical procurement management in line with company procedures and measure realised savings.
• Manage internal stakeholders to ensure adequate resources for tendering, clarification and negotiation processes.
• Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with support from Buyers and Category Managers.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with experience in project or mechanical engineering environments.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision from senior management.
• Strong organisational and communication skills to coordinate cross‑functional teams.
• Proven track record of delivering projects within scope, schedule and budget.
• Experience in procurement processes and commercial negotiations.
