Mechanical Engineer (Turbine)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in turbine systems to lead and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on gas and steam turbines and their auxiliaries. The role involves planning plant outages, supervising overhaul activities, and ensuring compliance with safety, statutory and ISO standards.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, lead and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on gas/steam turbines and associated equipment.
• Plan and manage plant outages, allocate manpower, schedule tasks and coordinate with relevant departments.
• Lead technical officers during overhauls to minimise outage duration and mentor them.
• Coordinate recommissioning and system integration after maintenance.
• Develop, review and update maintenance and overhaul programmes to ensure reliability.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, WSH regulations, PTW systems and safe work procedures.
• Manage spare‑parts procurement, monitor deliveries and administer maintenance contracts.
• Certify completed work, process documentation for contractor payments and support OPEX/CAPEX budgeting.
• Prepare periodic maintenance and performance reports and support technical studies and plant upgrades.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering recognised by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB).
• Experience with precision mechanical assembly and maintenance of large rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of local statutory requirements for pressure vessels and lifting equipment.
• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Confined Space, Lifting Supervisor, Work at Height) preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams under pressure.
• Project and contract management experience is an advantage.
