Member of Technical Staff - Dry Etch Process Development, NAND

About the role

Micron is hiring a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) for its Fab 10N/X site, focused on dry etch process development for NAND. The MTS leads critical dry etch modules and advances next-generation NAND scaling by owning key processes, driving equipment roadmaps with hardware teams and leading multi-functional problem solving for yield, defectivity and manufacturability. The role calls for deep dry etch fundamentals, strong predictive and mitigation thinking, and mentorship contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development of dry etch technology and essential modules, acting as the dry etch area expert.
• Develop and innovate dry etch processes that meet structural and electrical specifications, demonstrating mechanistic understanding of parameter-to-outcome relationships.
• Work with hardware teams to develop the equipment roadmap for current and upcoming NAND products.
• Lead multi-functional teams to solve complex structural problems, present technology development plans for current and upcoming nodes and build mitigation plans for future issues.
• Lead supplier head-to-heads and drive RCA, SPC and corrective actions to close gaps.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and strengthen cross-area collaboration.
• Use AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness, and share AI-enabled improvements within your scope.

Required profile

• PhD with at least 8 years, or Master's with at least 11 years, or Bachelor's with at least 13 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• Advanced dry etch process development experience.
• Cross-functional leadership, mentorship mindset and strong stakeholder communication.

Required skills

• Deep plasma etch fundamentals and reactor knowledge, including high aspect ratio etch scalability experience.
• DOE, SPC, statistics and model-based problem solving.
• Preferred: data science basics, Python coding and AI-assisted analysis.
