Metrology & Backend Equipment Technologist – Semiconductor Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a Metrology/Backend Equipment Technologist to ensure the high availability and reliability of semiconductor manufacturing tools and the automated material handling system (AMHS). The role combines hands‑on maintenance with support for continuous‑improvement initiatives in a fast‑paced fab environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on semiconductor equipment and AMHS (stockers, Overhead Hoist Transport systems).
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and automation faults to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow established SOPs, quality and safety standards.
• Support equipment engineers in tool‑improvement projects, equipment upgrades and reliability enhancement programmes.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects (CIP) and process optimisation activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or professional certificate/NiTEC in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to work independently on rotating 12‑hour shifts.
• Good teamwork and communication skills, able to collaborate across lateral and vertical stakeholders.
• Commitment to EHS requirements, including chemical safety, work at height and a safe working environment.

Required skills

• Experience with metrology equipment for wafer particle inspection, thickness measurement, cleaning, sorting, packaging and ICP‑MS analysis.
• Familiarity with AMHS equipment such as stockers and Overhead Hoist Transport (OHT) systems.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and automation systems.
