Metrology Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a Metrology Engineer to join Micron’s semiconductor fabrication team. The engineer will develop and maintain measurement recipes that provide rapid, accurate feedback on product integrity, supporting cutting‑edge memory and storage technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement measurement recipes to monitor yield and quality.
• Participate in new technology development and startup activities with R&D fab sites in the United States.
• Contribute to global forums such as the Copy‑Smart Team to share best practices and continuous‑improvement ideas.
• Define tool qualification criteria and monitor performance using Statistical Process Control charts.
• Work with Engineering Operations and Application teams to optimise tool maintenance schedules and utilisation.
• Lead projects aimed at improving inline detection, reducing cost, and increasing machine availability.
• Collaborate with tool suppliers to address challenges of shrinking technology nodes.
• Analyse data, summarise findings and recommend process changes, equipment improvements and cost‑reduction actions.
• Train engineering teams on recipe maintenance, tool recovery and troubleshooting.
• Determine sampling strategies to satisfy production, process control and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering or Science.
• Strong analytical, logical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across all levels.
• Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
• Interest or experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred.

Required skills

• Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodology.
• Data analysis for process and quality improvement.
