Metrology & Real-Time Defect Analysis Engineer

About the role

Micron, a global leader in memory and storage solutions, is hiring an Engineer, Metrology & Real Time Defects Analysis for its Fab 10N/X site. The role focuses on measurement recipes, defect detection and process control to protect yield and quality in semiconductor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop measurement recipes that give quick, accurate feedback on product integrity and solve yield or quality issues
• Use advanced analytics to find and fix deviations in machinery and processes
• Design experiments to identify defect sources and formation mechanisms
• Collaborate with engineers across departments and with Engineering Operations and Application teams to improve defectivity
• Apply inspection tools for defect detection and set tool qualification criteria
• Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts, control limits and sampling methods to catch deviations early
• Optimize tool maintenance schedules and partner with tool suppliers and owners on shrinking technology nodes
• Run projects that improve inline detection, efficiency, cost and machine availability
• Analyze data to recommend process changes, equipment availability improvements and cost reductions
• Train the engineering team on recipe maintenance, tool recovery, troubleshooting and maintenance
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and share AI-enabled improvements

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Science
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills
• Effective communicator who works across all levels
• Growth mindset and ability to work flexible shifts, such as compress shifts
• Relevant experience preferred; internship or semiconductor industry experience is a plus
