Mid-Level Automation & Control Systems Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Automation & Control Systems Engineer to design, code and commission control solutions for marine electrical equipment. The role involves integrating PLC and inverter drive logic with mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient shipboard operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and HMI software for marine winches, cranes and propulsion systems.
• Configure and fine‑tune variable frequency drives (VFDs) and inverter systems to optimise equipment performance.
• Conduct functional testing and simulation of control logic prior to shipboard installation.
• Provide on‑site technical support during commissioning, troubleshooting hardware‑software interface issues.
• Maintain accurate records of software versions, parameter settings and technical manuals.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Schneider or Mitsubishi) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of power electronics and variable speed drives.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings.
• Willingness to travel for on‑site marine commissioning as required.
