Network Controller

About the role

Fugro Satellite Positioning, Inc. is looking for a Network Controller for its Singapore office. The role monitors and proactively supports the daily operation of the Fugro Data Network, including the Network Control Center (NCC), remote sites and satellite uplink sites, with minimum downtime. It also covers customer support outside normal working hours. The position is learned on the job and involves rotating shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the operation of the NCC (remote site data collection, central computer operation, data distribution and uplinking) and respond to data alarms
• Work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment
• Isolate faults and resolve them using internal and external resources
• Document all alarm conditions and actions
• Perform data archiving and plotting tasks
• Collate system performance statistics and help produce tables and graphs for reporting and analysis
• Assist with additions or changes to NCC and remote site computers and data communications equipment
• Help coordinate planned system outages with service providers and clients to minimise disruption
• Assist with network documentation, reports and the maintenance of operational procedures
• Propose new ways of working to improve productivity and provide customer support
• Respond promptly to calls, faxes and emails and observe security and safety measures
• Create brief memos, emails and occasional drawings with standard office software

Required profile

• Diploma; college coursework in information technology required; a degree in computer networking systems or computer science preferred
• Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment
• Working rights in Singapore (work pass sponsorship is subject to quota and availability)

Required skills

• Computer networking with other computer systems
• Good computer literacy
• Competence in common office software such as Windows and Red Hat
