NTI Equipment Development Engineer, Real-Time Defect Analysis (RDA)

About the role

Micron is looking for a Real-Time Defect Analysis (RDA) Technology Development Engineer. You will learn how to use pioneering defect detection equipment and processes to detect and solve issues, accelerating learning and technology transfer in Technology Development. The role works with engineers in process integration, process development, data science and yield analysis, and supports experimentation, data analysis, baseline health metrics and systematic and random defect improvement with Research and Development and High Volume Manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Support experimentation, data analysis, baseline health metrics and defect improvement through collaboration with R&D and manufacturing teams.
• Write or modify equipment recipes for RDA inspection tools.
• Perform basic and advanced recoveries of down tools for assigned workstations.
• Drive software upgrades and improvements with internal and external vendors.
• Monitor tool qualification SPC charts, initiate tool repairs and adjust limits as needed.
• Use scripting, coding or programming to monitor inspection data performance and capabilities.
• Collect and analyze tool and process data to suggest performance improvements.
• Train and mentor engineers and technicians.
• Work with vendors on escalation results and with equipment owners on long-term tool solutions.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work and share AI-enabled improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in NAND semiconductor manufacturing; RDA inspection recipe setup experience preferred.
• Proven experience in training and mentoring engineers and technicians.
• Experience working with RDA inspection tool vendors on recipes, troubleshooting and upgrades.

Required skills

• Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in SEM imaging and interpretation for systematic and random defect identification.
• Experience with RDA inspection tools such as DF/BF/CIRCL/SEM/XRD/SAM and X-ray inspection (XRD).
• Ability to set up RDA equipment, monitor its stability and capability, and communicate with vendors.
• Good verbal and written communication and project management skills.
• Digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy.
