Occupational Therapist - Rehabilitation Department (Locum)

About the role

The Occupational Therapist in the Rehabilitation Department assesses and manages inpatients referred for occupational therapy. The role is advertised as a locum position and is open to applicants who can carry out the duties under the supervision of a supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage referred patients independently and implement appropriate treatment plans.
• Report to the referring doctor and other members of the medical team.
• Document patient occupational therapy records accurately and charge patients accurately.
• Register new patients and update individual performance statistical records regularly.
• Carry out regular inventory and equipment checks.
• Collaborate with colleagues, take part in case conferences and help promote clinical services.
• Assist in clinical education of OT students, induction of new OTs, and departmental inservice training and educational talks.
• Help review and update clinical protocols and SOPs, manage assigned workgroup projects, and take part in departmental quality control.
• Keep up to date with occupational therapy knowledge and skills.

Required profile

• Recognised diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; service-oriented and customer-focused.
• Result oriented, a team player and competent in IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
