Oil Operator (Contract)

About the role

Trafigura is hiring a contract Oil Operator in Singapore to support commercial petrochemicals operations and traders. The role co-ordinates post-deal trading activity so that contracts are executed smoothly, provides market information to the trader, coordinates shipping and logistics, and helps research new business opportunities. It may also support other product desks in the future.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and forecast supply and stock management of petrochemical products in the Asia Pacific region.
• Liaise with inspectors, agents, ship brokers, trade counterparties, storage terminals and internal departments to ensure smooth physical operations.
• Minimise costs and pursue optimisation of operations.
• Establish good working relationships with counterparties.
• Provide commercial and market information to the trader as needed.
• Coordinate shipping and logistics to effect the trade successfully.
• Assist in researching new business opportunities.

Required profile

• At least 3-5 years of experience in olefins and aromatics operations.
• Relevant experience in deep-sea vessel operations, STS/lightering, barge operations, rail car operations and pipeline scheduling.
• Knowledge of products such as ethylene, butadiene, crude C4, propylene and raffinate; good knowledge of petrochemicals operations is critical.
• Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure, with strong communication, analytical and commercial instincts.
