Oil Shipping Operator (Contract)

About the role

Trafigura is looking for an Oil Shipping Operator on an 8-month contract in Singapore. You will join a team managing one of the world's largest time charter fleets, handling all aspects of time charter vessel operations. Your main responsibility is to ensure proper operation of TC vessels and maximise performance while following global standards and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake voyage planning to meet international regulations and respond to vessel operational issues
• Optimise bunker procurement and consumption strategies
• Review and coordinate stowage planning, cargo handling and real-time issue resolution
• Coordinate agency appointments and provide voyage orders to vessels
• Monitor vessel performance across all voyages, including speed and consumption analysis
• Coordinate weather routing services and performance optimisation initiatives
• Manage hold and tank cleaning optimisation
• Handle vessel questionnaires, certificates, LOIs and supporting documentation
• Maintain and update company software systems with operational data
• Collaborate with internal and external parties on ongoing operations, including pre- and post-fixture activities
• Ensure compliance with Global Regulatory Requirements and Trafigura's global policies and procedures
• Prepare operational reports and performance analysis

Required profile

• 2-4 years' of relevant experience in an owner's or broker's house handling operations
• Strong business acumen and commercial approach
• Ability to work in a multinational, fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• English proficiency (written and verbal) and excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks

Required skills

• Shipping management software such as IMOS and ZeroNorth
• Data analysis and reporting
• Charter party terms (Time Charter, Voyage Charter), BIMCO forms, laytime and demurrage calculations, P&L understanding
• Cargo operations (loading and discharge preparation) and bunker operations (planning, quality specs, sampling)
• Desirable: automation tool development and knowledge of AI/ML applications in shipping
