Operating Technician Batchmaker

About the role

This role is a core part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team, responsible for pre‑batching and blending raw materials to produce industrial or architectural colourants. The technician follows detailed batch slip instructions, operates high‑speed equipment, and ensures a safe, clean, and productive work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Select, pull, measure and stage raw materials for production.
• Operate high‑speed mixers, dispersers, pumps, valves, battery chargers and drum‑handling equipment according to batch slip instructions.
• Make lab adjustments, incorporate approved samples and maintain raw‑material samples.
• Monitor raw materials and finished goods for quality and record equipment logs.
• Perform minor equipment repairs, report breakdowns and keep production records.
• Replenish inventory of parts and supplies and collaborate with other departments to meet production schedules.
• Provide technical support and training to team members and suggest process improvements.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work without sponsorship.
• Preferred: minimum one year of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, operating machinery and material‑handling equipment, and monitoring quality of raw materials or finished goods.

Required skills

• Operation of high‑speed mixers and high‑speed dispersers (HSDs).
• Use of pumps, valves, battery chargers and drum‑handling equipment.
• Forklift operation (stand‑up and sit‑down) and other material‑handling equipment.
• Monitoring gauges, dials and machinery indicators.
• Quality monitoring of raw materials and finished products.
• Use of paint‑making control systems.
