Planning (Layout) Engineer

About the role

Micron is hiring a Planning (Layout) Engineer for its Fab 10N/X site. The role applies industrial engineering principles to optimize production equipment layouts, improving material flow, footprint efficiency and overall factory output. It works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and Facilities to plan tool installations, relocations, upgrades and removals.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize production equipment layouts to improve material flow, footprint efficiency and factory output.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date layout documentation covering planned tool installations, relocations, upgrades and removals.
• Perform onsite assessments with Facilities and tool owners to validate layout feasibility and check physical and infrastructure constraints.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering and Facilities to communicate layout changes and resolve constraints.
• Build a foundation of fab design, cleanroom protocols and process areas to support layout planning.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness, and share AI-enabled improvements with colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong critical thinking, able to analyze constraints, evaluate trade-offs and support data-driven decisions.
• Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Physically able to work inside a cleanroom, wearing full cleanroom attire (smock, hood, gloves, boots).
• Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of coding/programming is an advantage.
• Digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools responsibly.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional stakeholders.
