Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Microbiome Gut-Brain Neuroscience

About the role

The Hwei-Ee Tan lab at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), NTU, studies how gut bacteria signal to the host to influence physiology and behaviour. Using mice as a mammalian model, the lab investigates how diet and microbiome factors shape traits such as food reward and anxiety, covering the gut-brain and brain-gut axes across molecular biology, systems neuroscience, physiology and behaviour. The lab is recruiting postdoctoral research fellows.

Key responsibilities

• Co-create impactful discoveries in the microbiome gut-brain neuroscience field
• Work in the lab team and help with essential lab duties
• Contribute to research on the gut-brain axis and host-microbe interactions

Required profile

• Doctoral (PhD) degree in neuroscience or a relevant discipline with a strong publication record
• Experience leading impactful work within the lab's research theme
• Proficiency in mouse/rodent handling, optogenetics and behavioural assays, animal surgery and dissection
• Highly motivated, conscientious, able to work independently and with a team, and willing to teach, learn and assist

Required skills

• Multiphoton/2-photon in vivo calcium imaging and data analysis, OR
• Gnotobiotic studies and microbiome analysis/bioinformatics
