Job description

About the role

Mercer is looking for a Principal, Rewards Advisory to join its Singapore office. You will lead end-to-end delivery and commercial ownership of several complex client accounts across industries, acting as the primary trusted advisor who translates business strategy into compensation and total rewards solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver complex client accounts on time, on budget and to high quality, and act as the main advisor to clients and stakeholders.
  • Design and oversee advanced reward solutions such as job evaluation frameworks, global and local salary structure strategy, STI/LTI architecture, sales incentive plans, merit and promotion frameworks, performance calibration and governance.
  • Lead executive compensation engagements including board and executive pay benchmarking, LTI design and valuation, CEO and senior executive pay-for-performance frameworks, and KPI/target-setting advice.
  • Drive project governance: anticipate and mitigate risks, set up change control and clear decision-making pathways.
  • Set technical standards and quality controls for the team, and review and sign off analyses, deliverables and client presentations.
  • Mentor managers and analysts, give formal feedback and own succession planning.
  • Own business development: pursue strategy, write and present proposals, negotiate commercial terms and expand client relationships through upsell and cross-sell.
  • Represent Mercer externally at client events, industry forums and through publications and market insights.

Required profile

  • Extensive experience in total rewards/compensation consulting or relevant in-house leadership roles, with a strong record in both broad-based and executive compensation.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow a P&L or revenue portfolio, win new clients and expand engagements.
  • Strong client presence and influencing skills, with experience advising senior executives and boards.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and talent development skills, able to coach senior practitioners and build high-performing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, comfortable presenting complex recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Target-driven, commercially minded and adaptable to client and market change.

Required skills

  • Deep technical knowledge of job evaluation, salary structures, STI/LTI design and executive compensation frameworks, including local regulatory, tax and governance considerations.
  • Project management experience running multi-stakeholder, cross-border programs.

What we offer

  • Professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • A vibrant, inclusive culture with a range of career opportunities, benefits and rewards.
  • Hybrid work, with colleagues expected in the local office or onsite with clients at least three days per week.
