Process Development Engineer (Semiconductor Packaging)

About the role

Micron is hiring a Process Development engineer for its Core Engineering module, focused on semiconductor packaging and assembly. The role owns the NPI-to-HVM process transfer, drives continuous improvement on yield and defect elimination, and supports the product roadmap and supplier collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Own the NPI product qualification and the transfer from NPI to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM)
• Support NPI business processes including Technical Risk Assessment (TRA), SPC, FMEA, Quality Control Plan (QCP), risk mitigation and documentation
• Deliver best-in-class yield and cost on NPI products, integrating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) package solutions, process guidelines and design rules
• Build customer and engineering samples on time and lead defect elimination with statistical analysis and problem-solving methods
• Develop process recipes for best-in-class units per hour, characterize processes and set parameters and boundaries
• Lead continuous improvement on process yield, defect elimination and process characterization
• Act as global lead for Best Known Method (BKM), process recipe specification and recipe standardization
• Support the product roadmap and engage regularly with equipment and material suppliers, including supplier roadmaps and competitor analysis

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical, materials, aerospace, chemical, electrical, process, semiconductor or related engineering
• 0-2 years of experience in semiconductor packaging, assembly or process integration; fresh graduates with a strong interest in semiconductor engineering are encouraged to apply
• Leadership experience in student councils or sports is an advantage; internship or semiconductor industry experience is a plus
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred
