Process Engineer, Injection Molding

About the role

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a global medical technology company, is looking for a hands-on Process Engineer, Injection Molding to support and optimise manufacturing processes in a regulated medical device environment. The role develops, validates, troubleshoots and continuously improves injection molding processes to meet SQDCP objectives, working with Manufacturing, Quality, Tooling, Automation and Engineering teams, and providing technical leadership and mentoring to Process Technicians and Operations personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support daily injection molding operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Productivity targets.
• Develop, optimise and sustain robust molding processes using Scientific Molding, Decoupled Molding, DOE and statistical analysis.
• Troubleshoot molding, automation, tooling, material and process issues to minimise downtime and improve process capability.
• Drive continuous improvement on yield, waste, cycle time and OEE.
• Establish, validate and maintain process parameters, work instructions, SOPs and engineering documentation.
• Support new product introduction, process transfers, qualification and scale-up projects.
• Investigate non-conformances with Quality, Manufacturing, Tooling and Automation teams and implement corrective actions.
• Program, troubleshoot and support robotic systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor tool performance and coordinate mold maintenance and refurbishment.
• Analyse process data using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC and other statistical tools.
• Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure GMP, quality, environmental, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor Process Technicians, Operators and Manufacturing personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, Chemical or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on injection molding process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of injection molding principles, process optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting production environments focused on quality, productivity and continuous improvement.
• Preferred: experience in medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical, electronics or precision manufacturing; knowledge of Scientific Molding, Decoupled Molding, DOE, SPC and process validation; familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma and OEE; understanding of GMP and quality systems; proven ability to lead technical projects and influence cross-functional teams.
