Procurement Specialist

About the role

GenScript is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing, negotiation and purchase of biological reagents, lab consumables, production equipment and technical services. The role supports R&D, production, quality and finance teams to ensure timely and compliant procurement across Singapore and international suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, negotiate and procure biological reagents, lab consumables, production equipment, instruments and technical services.
• Resolve after‑sales issues and maintain a qualified supplier database for Singapore and global life‑science suppliers.
• Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews (quality, delivery, responsiveness, compliance) and drive continuous improvement.
• Analyze spend data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement bulk purchasing or framework agreements.
• Streamline procurement workflows to improve efficiency.
• Partner closely with R&D, Production, Quality and Finance to align procurement with operational needs.
• Prepare procurement‑related documentation for audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with Singapore regulations, company policies and industry standards (ISO, FDA).
• Mitigate contractual risks including IP, confidentiality and liability clauses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of procurement experience in life sciences, pharma, CRO/CDMO or lab equipment sectors, or equivalent production/operations experience.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables).
• Basic contract review and negotiation skills.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken) with ability to handle technical documents.
• Highly detail‑oriented, able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
