Product Control Analyst

About the role

Vitol, a global energy and commodities trader, is hiring a Product Control Analyst in Singapore. The role supports the day-to-day running of the trading desk, keeping a detailed position summary for traders and the trading matrix, and monitoring traders' exposures.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a detailed position summary for traders and the matrix, consolidating data where needed
• Monitor traders' exposures and ensure they are documented and calculated consistently
• Monitor futures near expiry (where applicable) and help determine what to hedge after checking with traders
• Comment on daily profitability reports, explaining P&L movements with a strong grasp of the P&L and market information
• Provide management information and decision support to traders through reports, modelling and analysis
• In some cases support other activities such as rolling storage, internal projects like setting up a new business, and working with the MIS/IT team

Required profile

• Minimum 3-5 years of middle office experience in a trading house
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Ability to work in a high-pressure trading environment
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables
• Comfortable with new concepts in a fast-paced business, able to see the big picture and dig into the details
• Able to explain accounting concepts to senior management in commercial terms
• Willingness to challenge and improve processes, earn trust through follow-through, and communicate clearly with other departments and external counterparties

Required skills

• Strong proficiency with numbers and large data sets
• Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required)
• Knowledge of Python is desirable
• Desirable: good understanding of the oil industry and/or financial markets, understanding of the trade life cycle, and experience with a trade capture system
