Product Owner - Core Banking

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a Product Owner for its Core Banking area. The role is responsible for building and maintaining sustainable products (services, applications or tools) that meet customer needs throughout the product lifecycle, under the leadership of the Product Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Define the vision and roadmap for the product(s) and optimise value across the end-to-end lifecycle in line with business strategy and priorities.
• Define and manage the product backlog for both Change-the-Bank (CtB) and Run-the-Bank (RtB) work, aligned to business strategy.
• Manage RtB topics such as SLAs, incident and problem management and audit actions, together with Operational Value Stream leadership, IT, CRO and other stakeholders.
• Manage and optimise the capacity of the CtB and RtB teams.
• Prioritise the agile team's backlog and manage cross-team dependencies, working with the Product Manager and other stakeholders.
• Work with customers, the Product Manager and others to define and prioritise backlog stories, taking account of client needs, market trends, competitors and regulatory and technology evolution.
• Define functional requirements and standards for vendor-delivered products with the Product Manager.
• Manage risks, issues and dependencies according to governance processes; discuss and agree on technical design and implementation approaches.
• Ensure quality standards (e.g. UX design) are met and that incident management processes are in place and support escalations.

Required profile

• Strong stakeholder and change management skills, able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Good communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Growth-oriented, agile mindset and passion for change.
• Self-motivated, team-oriented and hands-on, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of the banking domain and core processes such as advisory, onboarding or investment management, and of the typical banking product landscape.
• Relevant higher education and professional background.

Required skills

• Experience using Scrum, Kanban and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Agile product ownership
