Project Officer / Research Associate / Research Fellow – Computer Science & Statistics

About the role

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) College of Computing and Data Science is seeking a motivated researcher to join Prof. Ong’s group. The role combines independent research, project coordination, and occasional teaching within a vibrant AI and data‑science environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage own academic research and related administrative tasks, including small‑scale project coordination.
• Conduct original research: develop mathematical models, design experiments, build software tools, and perform empirical studies.
• Write, publish, and present research findings at meetings and seminars.
• Generate ideas for new projects, prepare detailed proposals, and assist in securing research funding.
• Provide technical advice to group members and represent the group at external events.
• Support the PI in mentoring junior researchers, coordinating collaborations with industry, government, and academic partners.
• Contribute to outreach, communication, and reporting to funders and stakeholders.
• Potentially teach undergraduate and graduate courses, labs, or tutorials.

Required profile

• PhD (or near completion) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Strong track record of academic research and publications.
