Purchasing Assistant (Japanese Speaking)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Purchasing Assistant who can bridge the language gap between our Japanese suppliers and the Singapore team. This junior position supports the procurement process for food products, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Translate Japanese product labels, specifications and related documents into English.
• Maintain and update product master data, purchasing records and information databases.
• Verify product details such as ingredients, nutritional information and packaging specifications.
• Assist in reviewing regulatory requirements and compliance documentation for food items.
• Prepare, maintain and organise import and export documentation.
• Coordinate with overseas offices, suppliers and internal stakeholders on product information.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and related paperwork.
• Provide administrative and operational support to the Purchasing team.

Required profile

• Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Food Science or a related field.
• Proficiency in Japanese for liaising with Japanese‑speaking clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to read and understand Japanese documents and product labels.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, simple formulas).
• Previous administrative experience is preferred.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience in the food industry, trading or import/export is an advantage.
