Real Time Defect Analysis Engineer

About the role

Micron is hiring a Real Time Defect Analysis Engineer to drive yield, quality and process improvements in advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The engineer works with cross-functional teams to investigate defectivity and process deviations, evaluate new materials and equipment, implement corrective actions and develop solutions that improve process capability, product performance and manufacturing efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and improve process conditions and technology, upgrade process capability and reduce production cost.
• Evaluate, promote and plan new equipment and materials, and carry out abnormal analysis and improvement.
• Maximize yield by working on tools, the process or wafer fabrication recipes.
• Troubleshoot wafer fabrication problems and perform root cause analysis.
• Work with other process areas to understand and control process deviations; long-term defect investigations may involve shift engineering and other functions.
• Evaluate products against design and performance specifications.
• Research process adjustment needs and recommend process improvements or equipment changes for new product types.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness, and share AI-enabled improvements with colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Science.
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communicator who collaborates across all levels, with a growth mindset and leadership track record.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
• Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools for research, analysis, problem solving and operational tasks.
• Compliance with organizational standards and legal requirements when using AI tools.
