Reliability & Maintainability Engineer – Defence Electronics

About the role

DSO National Laboratories is seeking a Reliability & Maintainability Engineer to support the development of defence‑grade electronic systems. You will work within a multidisciplinary project team to embed reliability and maintainability considerations from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a reliability and maintainability programme for electronic modules, ensuring compliance with AS9100 requirements.
• Gather, analyse, and review system requirements, identifying potential failure modes and mechanisms.
• Develop and run test plans to assess reliability and maintainability of both complete systems and individual components.
• Conduct failure investigations and root‑cause analysis on test results, providing corrective recommendations.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to integrate reliability findings into product development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills.
• Capability to work independently and deliver high‑quality documentation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of micro‑electronic device construction and packaging.
• Experience with reliability, statistical and failure analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in developing test plans for electronic components.
