Relief Preschool Teacher

About the role

GESS, one of Singapore's leading international schools with students from over 70 nations, is looking for a relief teacher for its Preschool department. The position starts as soon as possible and involves full responsibility for running a Preschool homeroom class while the regular teacher is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Run a Preschool homeroom class independently during the teacher's absence.
• Plan, implement and assess a play and inquiry-based programme.
• Prepare and share documentation on school curricula, children's development and digital portfolios.
• Create an inspiring learning environment that promotes children's agency, independence and differentiation.
• Build respectful, consistent partnerships with parents about children's development and school life.
• Contribute to the Preschool's goals, reflecting the school's mission, vision and values.

Required profile

• Previous teaching experience in a Preschool setting; knowledge of the IB Primary Years Programme and the Reggio Emilia philosophy is an advantage.
• Experience with hands-on, inquiry-led and play-based approaches.
• Appropriate experience and teaching qualification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English, as classes are conducted in English; German is an advantage because some students speak German.
• Enthusiasm for working with children, creativity in lesson planning, and high standards of honesty, integrity and professionalism.
