Remote Rust Engineer – AI Data Training Contractor

About the role

We are seeking a remote Rust Engineer to join SME Careers, a fast‑growing AI data services company. You will work on hourly‑paid contract tasks focused on reviewing and generating Rust code for AI model training, ensuring high‑quality, safe, and idiomatic solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Review AI‑generated Rust code and explanations, assessing correctness, safety, and adherence to prompts.
• Generate Rust code and detailed explanations that demonstrate idiomatic patterns.
• Evaluate, rank, and compare multiple AI responses based on reasoning quality and technical accuracy.
• Create prompts and responses to guide AI learning across diverse topics.
• Test AI models for inaccuracies or biases and provide feedback to improve model reliability.

Required profile

• 1‑2+ years of professional Rust development experience in backend, CLI, or systems projects.
• Strong grasp of Rust ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and data‑race prevention.
• Excellent English writing skills for clear, pedagogical explanations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Detail‑oriented with C1‑level English proficiency.

Required skills

• Rust programming language.
• Async Rust patterns (Tokio, Actix, Serde).
• Traits, generics, pattern matching, and error handling.
• Backend services, command‑line tools, or systems programming.
• Experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants and validating their output.
