Research Assistant – Organic Chemistry

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join Prof. Loh Teck Peng’s organic chemistry group at NTU’s School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. The role supports daily laboratory operations, procurement, and administrative tasks while providing hands‑on assistance in synthetic chemistry projects.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory records, inventories and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Coordinate approved procurement and purchasing documentation for chemicals and consumables.
• Provide routine administrative support to the principal investigator and research team.
• Assist in supervised experimental work, data collection and documentation of results.
• Support overall laboratory housekeeping and procedural compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in organic or synthetic chemistry is preferred.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and good research practices.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
