Research Assistant – Viral Immunopathogenesis

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join the JChen Lab. The role focuses on viral immunopathogenesis, investigating how viral infections drive neuroinflammation and musculoskeletal disease across organ systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform molecular, cellular and virology‑based experiments under appropriate biosafety conditions.
• Assist with experimental design, data collection, analysis and documentation.
• Support laboratory operations, including reagent preparation and inventory management.
• Organise data and prepare materials for presentations and publications.
• Participate in collaborative research activities within LKCMedicine.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field.
• 0‑3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Interest in infectious diseases, neurobiology or musculoskeletal research.
• Good organisational, communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Virology experimental procedures.
• Familiarity with Biosafety Level 2 and 3 practices (or willingness to be trained).
