Research Associate (AI/ML) - COSMOS

About the role

The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS), a Research Centre of Excellence at NTU, is looking for a Research Associate to expand its COSMOS project. The position is primarily based at NTU, with reporting to Duane at NUS, so the candidate works closely with data-generating groups while staying engaged with the COSMOS development team at NUS.

Key responsibilities

• Apply and adapt COSMOS to new datasets
• Work with domain experts to interpret discovered motifs and co-develop mechanistic hypotheses
• Help guide data structuring and labeling strategies
• Contribute to experimental planning by identifying the data needed to test hypotheses
• Develop reusable pipelines deployable across multiple domains

Required profile

• MSc in AI for Science (preferred), with a Bachelor's degree in a science (e.g. Physics or Biology) or engineering (e.g. Electrical, Computational)

Required skills

• Practical experience with unsupervised and self-supervised learning on scientific instrument data (microscopy, spectroscopy, time-series)
• Scientific programming in the ML stack (PyTorch)
• Experience in HPC environments
