Research Associate - Cell Biology (Cancer & Stem Cells)

About the role

The Liu Lab, part of the Cancer Discovery and Regenerative Medicine Programme at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), is looking for a Research Associate to advance cancer and stem cell biology research. The role involves running experiments independently, collecting and analysing data, and helping to understand cancer mechanisms and stem cell behaviour. Entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop complex cellular models, including organoids, 3D spheroids and 2D cell cultures.
• Independently conduct and analyse molecular and cellular biology experiments using techniques such as qRT-PCR, CRISPR-based genetic manipulation, advanced live-cell imaging and biochemical assays.
• Work directly with the Principal Investigator and PhD students to carry out research plans and optimise experimental protocols.
• Help create Risk Assessments (RAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support laboratory compliance and safety.

Required profile

• Master's degree in cell biology, biochemistry or molecular biology.
• At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience with organoid culture and stem cell maintenance.
• Ability to develop, manage and execute research plans.
• Good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
• Meticulous, with strong attention to detail, organisation and time management.
