Research Associate (Computer Science)

About the role

The College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is recruiting a Research Associate (RA) to support projects in computer vision, machine learning, physical AI and spatial AI. The RA contributes to algorithms, data preparation pipelines and experimental evaluations that feed the Physical Vision Group's goal of general-purpose physical simulators and spatial intelligent systems. The RA reports to the Principal Investigator and works with faculty, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual research within the assigned project: process data, develop research methods and build and evaluate computer vision and machine learning algorithms empirically.
• Author research articles at an international level for peer-reviewed conferences.
• Engineer software based on the project's research outcomes and share it on the group's website.
• Manage own academic research and administrative activities.
• Adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols.
• Test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources.
• Contribute ideas for new research projects and generate ideas for research income, presenting detailed proposals to senior researchers.
• Perform any other duties appropriate to the role.

Required profile

• A relevant Master's degree in Computer Science.
• Sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge of methodologies such as deep and statistical learning.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing for publication, presenting research proposals and results, and presenting research output at meetings.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive and a team player.
• A strong publication record at major international computer vision and machine learning conferences is preferred.
