Research Associate - MASLD

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is recruiting a Research Associate to support research projects focused on Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). The role focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind MASLD development and progression and helping to identify and validate new therapeutic targets for liver disease. The position is based at the NTU Novena Campus.

Key responsibilities

• Design and carry out in vitro and in vivo experiments to study the molecular mechanisms of MASLD
• Identify and validate potential therapeutic targets using functional genomic screening, gene silencing and molecular biology techniques
• Run preclinical studies with animal models of liver disease, including experimental procedures and tissue collection
• Analyse and interpret data, including transcriptomic datasets, to find biological pathways and assess therapeutic effects
• Maintain accurate records, organise research data and follow laboratory safety and research standards

Required profile

• Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or a related field
• Research experience in MASLD, liver fibrosis or metabolic disorders
• Good written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and in a team

Required skills

• Hands-on molecular biology: RNA and protein extraction, qPCR, Western blotting, and gene silencing (siRNA, shRNA)
• Mammalian cell culture and in vivo animal studies, including hydrodynamic tail vein injection in mice
