Research Associate/Engineer II (FPGA Design and Development)

About the role

The Continental-NTU Corp Lab is a research collaboration between NTU and Continental, focused on sustainable materials engineering, artificial intelligence, advanced communications and cybersecurity for future urban mobility. This position is open to a Research Fellow or Senior Researcher (full-time) working on heterogeneous integration and the security of chiplet-based IC systems, with the goal of demonstrating secure intelligent computing platforms that outperform traditional ones.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with security experts, cryptographic engineers and cross-functional teams to develop, integrate and evaluate innovations.
• Integrate, prototype and evaluate new architectural improvements, especially new security mechanisms and cryptographic IP implementations on FPGA hardware.
• Integrate security engines, TEE and post-quantum hardware building blocks and security components.
• Integrate security into RoT/Caliptra hardware and software blocks as prototypes.
• Contribute to the long-term research strategy, white papers and vision documents.

Required profile

• MSc in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience with HW/SW co-design, FPGA development and hardware prototyping.
• Strong understanding of digital design principles and embedded systems.
• Ability to work across interdisciplinary teams, ideally with project planning and management experience.
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills; fluency in multiple languages is a plus.

Required skills

• HDLs such as Verilog or VHDL.
• C, Rust and RISC-V.
• Tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Cadence Virtuoso and Synopsys.
• Familiarity with modular FPGA implementations, tools and testing methodologies.
