Research Engineer – Accounting NLP/AI

About the role

We are seeking a Research Engineer to join a MOE AcRF Tier 1 funded project at the Singapore Institute of Technology. The role focuses on developing a pipeline that detects inconsistencies and contradictions between firms' written financial filings and spoken earnings call transcripts using advanced NLP and AI techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical execution of the research project, meeting deliverables and timelines under the guidance of the PI and Co‑PI.
• Design and implement a retrieval‑augmented natural language inference pipeline for detecting contradictions across corporate disclosures.
• Perform large‑scale text preprocessing, cleaning, segmentation, and indexing of earnings call transcripts and SEC filing corpora.
• Develop claims extraction modules using LLM‑based approaches and build semantic retrieval mechanisms such as Sentence‑BERT similarity search.
• Aggregate model outputs into firm‑quarter level scores and support empirical analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with machine‑learning libraries.
• Familiarity with version control tools (Git/GitHub) and collaborative development practices.
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
