About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU is seeking a motivated Research Engineer to advance embodied AI and robotic manipulation. You will work on AI‑driven robotic systems that interact with real‑world environments, supporting projects in human‑robot interaction, perception, and intelligent control.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement perception and control algorithms for robotic arms and embodied AI platforms.
• Integrate multimodal AI models (vision, language, force sensors) with hardware using ROS and MoveIt.
• Conduct experiments in simulation and on physical robots, evaluating AI‑driven behaviours.
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, including robotic manipulators and mobile robots.
• Prepare research publications, technical reports, and presentation materials.
• Collaborate with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and industry partners on AI and robotics projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least two first‑author papers in top‑tier journals or conferences.
• Hands‑on experience with robotic perception, control, or learning‑based methods.

Required skills

• Python programming
• C++ programming
• Robotic middleware such as ROS and MoveIt
• Experience with robotic arms (e.g., UR5, Franka Emika)
• Knowledge of machine learning, reinforcement learning, or vision‑language models for robotics
