Research Engineer I – Sensing and Positioning

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is looking for a Research Engineer I to contribute to radar sensing and positioning research. The position involves algorithm development on embedded platforms, hardware prototyping, and supporting live demonstrations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop C/C++ code and implement radar sensing algorithms on MCU or USRP platforms.
• Analyse system requirements and produce modular specifications.
• Design PCB solutions for RF controller systems, including diode control circuits.
• Create test cases for USRP systems, TI mmWave radar development boards, and related measurement platforms.
• Assist in live demos and experimental setups.
• Collaborate closely with the principal investigator, team members, and external partners to meet project milestones.
• Monitor emerging technology trends relevant to the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering or a related field from a reputable university (diploma with strong industry experience may be considered).
• Basic knowledge of radar sensing and positioning.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, multitask environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English for data analysis and stakeholder communication.

Required skills

• C and C++ programming.
• Embedded system development on MCU/MPU/SOC platforms.
• Radar sensing algorithm implementation.
• Analog and digital circuit design.
• PCB design using Altium Designer.
• Experience with USRP platforms.
• Familiarity with TI mmWave radar development boards.
• Generation of design specifications, schematic capture, and circuit simulation.
