Research Engineer II – Sustainability Metrics

About the role

The Alibaba‑NTU Global e‑Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) is looking for a motivated Research Engineer to support the development of sustainability standards, metrics and evaluation methodologies. You will work closely with the Principal Investigator and an interdisciplinary team to translate research concepts into real‑world applications.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the PI and team to develop sustainability frameworks and metrics based on real‑world feedback.
• Formulate research hypotheses and design testable frameworks.
• Coordinate data collection through surveys, industry engagement and pilot studies.
• Analyze operational and pilot data to generate actionable insights.
• Facilitate industry‑university‑research collaboration projects and manage project timelines.
• Organise outreach activities such as workshops, seminars and public engagement events.
• Host lab visits, demonstrations and delegation receptions.
• Present research capabilities and outcomes to external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Managerial Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Familiarity with sustainability, green technology or digital economy initiatives is an advantage.
• Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving and data‑analysis abilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management experience with government, industry or institutional partners.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, confident in presenting to external delegations.
