Research Fellow – AI‑augmented Digital Design

About the role

Nanyang Technological University’s College of Computing and Data Science seeks a Research Fellow to advance AI‑based digital design solutions. The role involves collaborating with research and engineering teams to integrate artificial intelligence into electronic design automation (EDA) workflows, supporting both internal projects and industry partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate AI‑driven digital design tools into existing and new software platforms.
• Analyse current digital design flows, libraries, and system architectures to define AI‑augmentation upgrade paths.
• Design, implement, and test AI models with appropriate protocols or frameworks.
• Evaluate performance, interoperability, and security implications of replacing classical EDA flows.
• Produce technical documentation, migration roadmaps, and user integration guides for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with EDA companies and semiconductor design houses to deploy AI‑augmented solutions.
• Work with the commercialization team on high‑TRL productisation and technology transfer.
• Contribute to research papers, technical reports, specifications, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Required profile

• Preferably a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive and a strong team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• In‑depth knowledge relevant to AI‑augmented digital design.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct innovative research and technology transfer.
• Willingness to adopt novel ideas and approaches in deep‑tech industry.
• Capability to initiate and lead multidisciplinary collaborations.
• Ability to oversee and report project progress.
• Flexibility to work occasional extended hours as needed.
