Research Fellow – Biointegrated Devices & Stretchable Electronics

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to advance biointegrated devices, focusing on scent digitalisation, stretchable electronics, and healthcare sensing platforms. You will work at the intersection of biomaterials, flexible device engineering, and translational research.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop stretchable, wearable and implantable electronic devices for bio‑interfacing and health monitoring.
• Create biomaterials‑enabled sensing platforms to monitor regenerative micro‑environments.
• Integrate flexible sensors, functional materials and device architectures for multimodal signal acquisition (chemical, mechanical, physiological).
• Plan and execute in‑vitro and in‑vivo validation studies, assessing performance, biocompatibility and therapeutic relevance.
• Collaborate with materials scientists, chemists, clinicians and electronic engineers to translate concepts into functional prototypes.
• Optimise fabrication processes, prototype devices, interpret data and prepare technical documentation.
• Support manuscript writing, conference presentations, grant development and reporting.
• Mentor junior researchers and assist with laboratory management and procurement.

Required profile

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Orthopaedics, Regenerative Medicine or a related field.
• Demonstrated research experience in tissue engineering, regeneration, biomaterials, hydrogel systems, 3D bioprinting or implantable devices.
